Toyota has showed off another electric sedan in China, and it meant to aim directly to Tesla Model 3 and this category. The bZ7 is a China-exclusive flagship electric sedan bigger than a Camry and considerably more luxurious than anything with a bZ family. Toyota hasn’t rushed to challenge Tesla.
According to Toyota, we don’t have the details on specs or exact dimensions yet, but it’s over five meters (196 inches) long, which means it has roughly the same footprint as a BMW i5. It’s a lot sleeker and more aerodynamic-looking than the BMW, helped by its low nose and fastback-style rear, which gives it an even smaller decklid than another new electric sedan that looks like it should be a liftback.
GAC is Toyota’s co-developed this platform. The Japanese automaker says the bZ model has rolled out bZX, bZ3, bZ3X, and the bZ5 in other regions, while the US has only received the bZ4X.
China is a highly advanced market that leads the way in electrification, the bZ3X shares its underpinnings with the GAC Aion V, as well as its control systems and motors, but it gets a different battery pack. Looking through GAC’s lineup, its largest electric model, which is smaller than the bZ7, is the Aion LX crossover. It is front-wheel-drive in base trim but has nearly 400 horsepower in dual-motor guise, and it can take a very big battery 144 kWh.
Do we expect to see this model at other markets like US? Toyota plans to sell the three-row bZ5X SUV in the US in 2026 and will be produce there as well. We don’t have further details from Toyota Cambodia, however, private and local dealers have been aggressively imported this model. The future of EV car is now in Cambodia
