2022 Subaru Forester Launches In Europe With New Safety Tech, e-Boxer Powertrain
The Subaru Forester has been updated for the 2022 model year in Europe, with a slew of safety enhancements and other changes. First and foremost, the automaker’s 4th generation EyeSight Driver Assist Technology includes 11 additional safety capabilities. Automatic Emergency Steering, Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering, and Lane Departure Prevention are among the other enhancements.
A 2.0-liter horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine and the e-BOXER powertrain work in tandem with a 16.7-hp electric motor and a 13.5-kwh battery. The SUV boasts an S-AWD all-wheel drive system and can go up to 40 km/h in all-electric mode (24 mph). When the SUV is in ‘S’ mode, a new e-Active Shift Control function offers more nimble driving characteristics. A variety of off-roading enhancements should further aid the upgraded Forester’s performance when driven off-road. It has a ground clearance of 220 mm (8.6 inches) and a dual-function X-Mode system with Snow/Dirt and Deep snow/Mud features. The 2022 Forester comes equipped with Hill Descent Control and can tow up to 1,870 kg (4,122 lbs).
