The most successful Toyota Prius plug-in hybrid saloon debuts geo-fencing technology and the new Digital Key. It improves to 109.4 km on electric power in the city.

What is new or 2025, the Japanese auto updates efficiency and energy management. The new range, in particular, sees the introduction of some new advanced technologies in the standard equipment, including an intelligent geo-fencing system and the Digital Key for smartphones.
Here how it works:
According to Toyota, from the new model year the Japanese saloon will be able to cover up to 85 km with zero emissions according to the WLTP combined cycle, a figure that can rise to 109.4 miles in the urban cycle, also WLTP.
This is a significant improvement on the 69 km declared at the presentation in 2024 and has led to a reduction in the declared consumption of the most efficient version, which is now 0.5 l/100 km (240.5 kmpL) with CO2 emissions of 11 g/km. Finally, the photovoltaic roof is also available to recharge the battery, giving up to 8.7 km of range per day.

What is Geo-fencing:
Geo-fencing system, is one of the key innovations in the Toyota Prius 2025 range, which analyses road conditions and usual routes to optimize battery use. The system, which is already familiar to us in recently models, can automatically switch the car from hybrid to electric mode and conserve charge for later journeys through restricted traffic zones reserved for electric vehicles.

But that’s not all, because other new standard features include a new digital key system that allows the vehicle to be accessed and started via smartphone and an enhanced wireless smartphone charger between the front seats. Finally, speaking of safety, Toyota Safety Sense systems, with advanced driver assistance and accident prevention features, remain of course available as standard.
