That Porsche is preparing an all-electric version of the Macan is no secret. Since the first announcements about it, there’s been talk of it cohabiting with the gas-powered variant, at least for a while.

The Porsche Macan SUV is expected to be phased out by the end of 2024. It can’t be easy for the firm to make this decision considering the SUV is a big seller. But it appears to be making the transition as it is expected to make a success.

Sebastian Staiger, head of Porsche’s product line, confirmed the discontinuation of the gas-powered Macan in an interview with Autocar magazine.

Porsche executive: “No final decision has been taken, but we assume that 2024 will be the year” when the Macan will switch entirely to electric drive. In 2025, the new Euro 7 standards will take effect on the Old Continent. Porsche is accelerating its electrification efforts by focusing on vehicles that will not emit pollutants.

The electric Macan will be the first Porsche vehicle to be constructed on the Premium Platform Electric architecture created in collaboration with Audi, which is also working on the Q6 e-tron, which will be available next year.

The future of Porsche will undoubtedly bring about changes, that is apparent. Already this week, we reported on credible rumors that the 718 will become electric. It’s apparent that in a few years, we won’t recognize the lineup.

The starting price for the new Macan $132,000 for Cambodia’s market.
